Wouldn't it be easier if you didn't cut the wire in the first place, and just made the two end pieces each into half of a false loop that would be the backside of the knot, the ends of which when soldered would be hidden on the back of the rings anyways? I've never done soldering and stuff before though, and I have no idea if what I said was eloquent enough to illustrate the idea.

I think the only things I left to question were what type of wire binding wire was and what was in the pickle pot xD
